If arriving by plane in the Fort Lewis area, the nearest major airport is the Seattle-Tacoma International airport. From the airport, taxi service is available as well as bus service through Pierce Transit. The Seattle-Tacoma International airport has a USO lounge that offers shuttle service from the airport directly to Fort Lewis and the Waller Hall Welcome Center. Call 1-800-562-7948 to contact the shuttle service. If arriving by car, take Interstate 5 south from the airport. Fort Lewis is located about 45 miles south of Seattle. Take exit 120 to the Fort Lewis main gate which is open 24 hours a day. If temporary lodging is needed, the Fort Lewis Lodge in Building 2111 offers over 145 rooms to soldiers at reasonable rates.
